The Weeknd ft. Drake
Length 3:45
Published : Sep 11, 2013
The video is The weeknd in a room a warehouse singing to the camera it then cuts to Drake in a lift rapping and then walking out continuing to rap. It then continues with the weeknd singing in the warehouse and then fades out.
Themes -
This video is purely performanced based and conceptual as well. Its a lot of just the artists singing/ rapping at the camera but the lighting could represent that life is a lot of dark days but always has its burst of happiness
The representation of the weeknd is that he feels that life is hard especially with the lyrics that are being said , it also shows that he values life and those that are around him.
I loved the camera angles especially the ones that were shot at low levels as it gave an exciting feel to it. I liked the when the panned out then panned in I though that was very thought out . I also noticed that the camera was on a slant and could connote that his thoughts are always one sided.
I liked the editing of the slow motion and the way it cut from the two artists.
I think the audience is targeted at young adults 17-22 years old
I would consider using the angles in this music video as it was well thought out and it can represent a lot of different concepts and I think it will go well with the song im doing.
Too brief- you are clear on elements you like, but your analysis of camera, editing and the role of performance, are far too sketchy. I'd like to see a much more specific analysis of techniques.
